Case Study: Xerox
The Xerox Office Group has successfully completed a simultaneous implementation of Oracle 11i and Virtual Trader across 54 companies in 26 countries. At the outset of the project, some major areas of concern were the replacement of large customizations around accounting and integration with their 3rd Party service product OpenUPTIME.
Their 10.7 environment had been heavily customized to facilitate operating multiple companies within the same shared operating unit. Despite the many business advantages this afforded, they had considered returning to a standard ‘silo’ model to reduce upgrade cost, timescales and project risk.
They chose Virtual Trader as their partner in this project to address all these functionality gaps using a standard and supported product. They are now running 54 companies within two shared work spaces, including fully automated multi-tier Commissionaire and Buy/Sell sales models. Virtual Trader now provides the complete integration of OpenUPTIME into both Receivables and General Ledger.
As with all projects, there were unexpected changes. For Xerox this was the need to undertake a significant change to the organizational structure across Europe three months before go-live. However the flexibility of the rule based approach used by Virtual Trader absorbed much of the impact and minimized the disruption to the project as a whole.
