"Novell licensed the Virtual Trader Multi-Language add-on software concurrent with our Japan installation. From the start it was incredibly easy to set up for printing our AR Invoice, Consolidated Bill, PO and GL Trial Balance we required in Japanese. Recently, we have moved on to the China and Taiwan implementations and our experience was effortless. For our first testing cycle, which usually doesn't include translated forms for the local users, we were quickly able to present them with a document that was 80% final. We avoided complications that may have arisen if we had tried to develop the same and probably wouldn't have had the easy-to-use Oracle Forms to support a seamless solution to add other countries."

As Virtual Trader is often deployed around business applications that involve external documents and reports, often required in different languages or formats, Virtual Trader also contains an optional component that provides functionality in this area.
The Multi-Lingual Engine provides a range of utilities that can be incorporated into an external document print or report program to provide a number of common formatting and translation functions. An extensive range of translations and formatting definitions can be maintained through form based applications within the product.
Although a number of data elements can be held directly in a local language within the source application, such as names and addresses, translation facilities become more important when data needs to be provide in both a ‘multi-byte’ character based language such as Japanese, as well as in a European language.
The translations maintained in Virtual Trader are not based on printer templates, but are a software solution substituting the appropriate client translation for each text item or image.
Company Facilities; Details, Declarations and Images:
- Translation and formatting of company details such as name, address, VAT registration etc.
- Translated legal and commercial declarations can be maintained, and assigned for use on documents based on country of destination.
- Images can be uploaded and applied to documents to provide country specific company logos, inspection stamps, shipping marks etc.
Data Translations & Formatting; Applications, Lookups and Numbers:
- Key application translations such as items, bank details and journals.
- Generic translation for any targeted lookup data e.g. freight terms, pay terms etc.
- Country specific formatting of numbers and currencies.
Report Translation & Formatting; Heading Translations & Country Variants:
- Translation of column names and report headings.
- Report variants allows the same report to be produced in a number of different output formats based on local country requirements.
Country Translation & Formatting; Territory details, Customer / Vendor Details and Remittances:
- Territory formatting controls the format of dates, numbers, addresses, contact names etc. based on country.
- Translation for customer, vendor names, addresses and contact details, and remittance addresses.
